A tribute to Lt General Hal Moore
Funeral Time:

Services for all on Friday Feb 17th.

8:30 AM.

at St Michaels Catholic Church in

Auburn, AL.

Then on to Ft Benning,

GA at 1 PM memorial service at the

National Infantry Museum followed

by services at the Old Post Cemetery

at Ft Benning.

Attended West Point July of 1942  Graduated from West Point June of 1945 and was commissioned as a second Lt.  Was sent to Ft Benning.  Applied for Jump School..but was sent to Jump with the 11th Airborne Division in Tokyo, Japan.  After Jump School..he got assigned to the 187th Glider Infantry Regiment.

In June of 1948 he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg.  He volunteered to join the Airborne Test Section a special unit testing experimental parachutes and made some 150 Jumps with the section over the next two years.  Over the course of his career he became a Master Parachutist with over 300 Jumps

He served in Korea 1951 and commanded a heavy mortar company with the 7th Infantry Division.

In 1965 he was sent to Viet Nam.  He led the 7th Calvary at the Battle of Ia Drang.

He retired from the Army in August of 1977 after 32 years of service.
